About the Coach

Justin "Master Chim" Garcia received his BJJ Black Belt from Royce Gracie Black Belt Rob Kahn, and built his skills training alongside UFC legends Royce Gracie, Glover Teixeira, Kenny Florian, and others. That foundation of hard work, high skill, and relentless tenacity earned him respect from some of the most accomplished figures in the MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu worlds.

But Master Chim didn't build Jungle Gym to create fighters. He built it to create transformation. For over 20 years, he's brought that world-class martial arts pedigree to the Bronx and made it accessible to everyone, from first-timers to lifelong practitioners.

Borrow a gi or wear comfortable clothes. You do not need to buy anything before your first class.

I'm completely out of shape. Can I do this?

That's exactly why most people start. You don't get in shape to train martial arts. You train martial arts to get in shape. We meet you where you are.

Will I get hurt?

Training is controlled and coached. You go at your own pace. Nobody's throwing you to the wolves on day one.

What should I wear?

Comfortable athletic clothes. We have loaner gis for BJJ classes. Bring water and a towel.

What happens after the free week?

We'll talk about membership options. Zero pressure. If it's not for you, no hard feelings.

Am I too old to start?

We have students who started in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. There is no age limit on getting better.
